That he loved me. I had been staring into his eyes for a long time, just thinking about saying it to him, and hearing him say it out loud, those words so smooth and forceful.
It was like he read my mind.
"Annie, I love you. You have no idea how special you are to me."
Just the feel of those words is so incredible. They were dulled at the edge; not sharp, but buoyed by the cold air around us. I was winded for a second, before I uttered a reply.
"I love you too"
I could not stop smiling for a full twenty minutes. Just to stare at him and nothing else. Just to love him.
