and again. i think it's not as grey as i'm used to and it's making me anxious. not because of the newfound colour clarity (or shade clarity? black and white?), but because when i want something to be less grey, the non-greyness is hard to achieve for other reasons. what? yeah.

i always thought i liked them, but i think they were always just easier because they didn't require decisions or commitment. or more specifically, they didn't require expectation/hope for other people to commit to you.

you've been seeing someone on a semi-regular basis for six months or so. about halfway through, or maybe a bit later than that, you learned that they'd been hurt pretty badly by a recent ex's behaviour, and from that time, they've been honest with you about the fact that they're just trying to get their life back and they're not capable of a relationship. but they like you, and they consistently contact you, and you have fun together. this is a longer-lasting grey area than you're used to. by this point, usually this would've formed into some sort of a committed relationship (or at least seemingly heading in that direction) at this point, or it would've fizzled or disappeared. are you satisfied with things being only in the present tense for who knows how long? in knowing that they may not want to be with you in a real sense once they're finally over the past? that they're maybe just getting what they need in the present, which is okay for them, but maybe not for you because you may get attached? or maybe none of that will happen; you won't give it a chance. are you okay with the time wasted in that case? will you wonder what could've been?
