cube No, I can't explain it. I only know that physicists and mathematicians are working to develop a unifying equation which would encompass all things.

I have little doubt however, that once they find it, they'll tinker with it until it breaks...

sylverquiklight first strings, then superstrings, then membranes and then m-theory, now spinors... its all a load of cocamamy crap the answers are in fractals and in chaos, i tell ju fools! Discreetness is a secondary characteristic of nature, it's not fundamental! I TELL JU FOOLS! 040320

MrPete Just a quick note.......the theory talks about the possibility of one force....and one source of energy.....it would encompass, gravity, magnatism, etc.... 040320

sylverquiklight Current theories (supersymmetry, string theory, standard model, blah blah) state that during the first moments of the universe, all forces were combined. Symmetry breaking occured, and this produced the four fundamental forces of nature in their respective strengths. Yet, no-one can figure out the particulars of how the symmetry breaking happened to make the forces just the way they are, with their relative strengths. 040322
...
sylverquiklight To add, current theories also state that the fundamental forces will have equal strength at a particular level of energy, now unnatainable with current particle accelerators. However, experimental evidence indicates that the force strengths won't *exactly* merge like they should... i guess we'll all have to wait and see. 040322

sylverquiklight Frankly, i believe that all forces are a result of the underlying geometry of space time and its effect on matter. String theory seems to point in this direction with the idea of the compactified space in which strings vibrate, but I think the idea needs to be expanded upon... they need to toss quantum theory, because its really the reason they can't solve the equations for superstring theory. Bye bye uncertianty principle. 040322
