some meaning is transmitted from others. we either accept it, or not. it would be preposterous to assert that i invented all the meaning that i use. language is acquired, we take over, inventing meanings, reconstructing connotations, making connections. ultimately, we construct a meta meaning for ourselves. life is a continual process of filtering and synthesis. it includes minutia like wind on arm hairs and macroscopic ideas like the big bang or god.

i am always suspect of evangelism of any stripe. why not live and let live? why cajole? what relevance do you find in challenging the beliefs of others?
