Getting off the plane at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, you look for a Valley Metro bus stop, as there should be a transit hub very close by.
Catch the Red Line (West) ride it to the Camelback stop. Go across the street (west) from the north side of the intersection and go past the little check-cashing place and into the smoke shop. I buy my cloves here, as they are $1.50 cheaper than anywhere else. get yourself a snack, a soda or a pack of smokes or some combination of those things.
head west, don't go into the bar next to the smoke shop. the drinks are nice and stiff, but that means that the regulars are good and ripped, so the chance of some random remark or minor misstep touching off a good row is quite high
