sounds like some sort of science fiction device. actually it's a carbon fiber reinforced belt drive for bicycles and they sound pretty promising for a good low maintenance drive system solution for bicycles. of course a belt is no good for a traditional style gear cassette so that where an internal gear hub like the Shimano Nexus comes in. I'm kind of excited about the idea of getting rid of the chain and derailleurs in favor of something more easily maintained. there's also the drive shaft systems in conjunction with internal gear hubs but so far those seem to be pretty hit or miss. ... |
