The way she says it... Her voice drops, low, the laughter goes out of it, and she is serious, the mask melts away, and I can hear the pain, the hint of longing, the admonishment, the smile, everything she never says. She knows I am ridiculous. She knows she is too. And the way she says "fucking" is so, so close to telling me how she'd say "fuck me."
