i am approached and i find myself side by side with each of you in turn. i feel off balance now, unsure if i can trust the surety of my step. and yet i keep my time. i weigh the consequences knowing full well that the answer has nothing to do with the equation. i want so much to believe but i'm scared of what it might mean if i do, so i keep my own time. i don't wish to trivialize who we are or who we could be if i walked only with you. yet in a way i couldn't, without being pulled in so many directions, i keep my own time. |
