i suffered a bad heat wave one summer. having the windows closed left me in a heated greenhouse. but having them open allowed the hot air outside fill my space.
there were no fans left in town - even wal-mart was sold out, and they seem to have everything. and there was no air conditioning in my building.
and i was poor.
my only option was a roll of tin-foil and a roll of tape. it worked in keeping the heat out.
now the air conditioning is included in my rent, along with all my utilites, and it's really not that expensive, considering.
i'm still poor, but on a different scale. i will never go back to living any other way, if i can help it, because i am willing to forego material things for my comfort.
