Jenna I am. English is boring, and I am fucking tired.

Give me one good reason not to quit school.

And please don't use the job excuse. I'm getting an art degree, people.

is tired and cranky

roomite... not knowing business in the art word is a bit of a handicap, but i'm sure i can draw some parallels. a few pros and cons perhaps.

PRO: once you get a degree in a chosen field, it's well and truely out of the way. that's to say that it never becomes an issue afterwards. when you don't have it, you may find yourself spending considerable time explaining why you never finished. this is especially true if (even as an artist) you are trying to extort money for your 'cause'. you'll find that those with the money, invariable have the degree(s) and are suspicious of those who don't.

CON: not much against getting it really. a few individuals know from birth what they are going to do in life AND have the personal ambition to match. this combination is pretty much what it takes to overcome the 'handicap' of a limited education. characteristics of the breed include extreme nerdiness and limited knowledge of anything beyond their chosen field of interest.

PRO: all of life is spent in search of self. if you end up doing whatever you're studying now, you'll be the exception and not the rule. having the degree allows greater freedom of 'sideways' mobility. you'll be able to pick up a new career quicker because you're recognized as a person who already knows how to learn.

and that's the bottom line, really. institutions of learning are there primarily to teach you how to learn on your own. no career path stands still - especially today. artists and engineers alike are always incorporating new strategies and technologies into their work. the learning curve NEVER stops.

do yourself a big favour. finish...

Jenna Thank you for your words. Really. They will help me through this next week.

Maybe the next 3 1/2 years. :) We'll see.
