God is a word. When we hear it, we love it or we hate it. We hold those who use it in contempt or find that we can relate. We find ourselves beneath it or above it. We've attached it to certain human acts, or beliefs that have little to do with it. We avoid it or we embrace it without ever once wondering why. It is a symbol that we've come to equate with something which, love or hate it the word, we don't begin to comprehend..cannot or will not. My friend had a bumper sticker which read simply: Real Men Hate God. Without knowing, he knew. People loved it or they hated it, not because of what it was, but because of what they thought it was. And it was their very reaction to it that indicated WHY it was..and what it meant. God is a word, and words are very small. So very small indeed.
