A fine line indeed. Once the ego is dissolved into oneness, it fights tooth and nail for its survival (it is our animal self) and can return as an enemy. It feels betrayed and so the internal war TRULY begins. Since the ego controls the brain and the brain controls the body. Hooo boy..hang on for a fucked up little ride. Ego is a horse. We mustn't spook it, but offer it treats and love so that it knows our intentions are righteous and that we are not killing it, only having it give up control. The sages, gurus and motivational speakers are right: we must love ourselves first. So ol' daf is still bouncing along through the desert, foot caught in stirrup, regretting my spiritual mistakes. But hey, at least this crazy fucker's finally slowed back down to a walk. |
