driving, a classic rock song came on. the kind with the long bridge building to a climax, that they'd use in an action movie while a person who had just set a bomb drove calmly slow motion away from the scene as an inferno spread over the horizon. each little riff of the guitar was like the twitching leg of a spider climbing up the tile wall of a bathroom foreshadowing the eventual free fall legs flailing. he lit up a cigarette in time with the markers the structure of the song provided, each little action was the big explosion of the action movie he had just imagined. the first drag coinciding with the final blast. it was the same sigificance transposed to a smaller scale, and he was amused by it. he wondered if there was a way to do that elsewhere in life, to find in every little instance of existence rhythms and significances analagous to those known well to all people. if he could find significance in things in a way not common in most people. it seemed that if he could master that shortcut, he would control the external world rather than be so controlled by it. every moment of his life could be blockbuster, could be the sum of human fury and stupidity in a nutshell, a microcosm, a three minute song.

Good writing... I'm glad I came across this. It's poetic, surreal, a little funny. Eh. Sometimes I wish I could be one of those people who can write a story in only a paragraph.
