In reading the book Promiscuities by Naomi Wolf I find myself getting more and more pissed off. Why should we girls/women have to make all the rules? Why is it that a boy can go out and have 10+ sexual partners and be considered a god, but if a girl has more than 3 or 4 she's a slut. a whore. and the girl you should stay away from? Why do we women have to be so oppressed? Why do we always have to say "no, I'm not ready" even if it is a lie? What are men so afraid of us for? And how is it that they can transfer that fear back on to us, to a point where we women go after each other? We taunt, and tease and damage each other's personal pride. If a girl has confidence, she's a slut. Why are we always told that we should keep our legs crossed while men can go out and sow their wild oats?
Perhaps I'm being feministic or something, but honestly, what was the point in the feminist movement? Sure, we get to vote, and we can be whatever we want to be when we grow up, as long as we're not sexual. As long as we keep our legs crossed, and don't let anyone know that we can be beautiful, sensual, sexual people. As long as we don't let men know that we enjoy sex just as much as they do, and in some cases even more so than they do. What's so wrong in that? There are countries where they still circumcise women in order that they won't enjoy sex to it's fullest... and they claim she'll be less inclined to commit adultery. If you love someone, and love them with your whole heart, you won't be inclined to cheat.
Why should we women have to be scared of one another, AND the opposite sex? Why can't we all just be happy with it and celebrate the fact that we are all wonderful, beautiful, sexy, sensual beings? We ARE gorgeous, why are people so afraid of it? Are men intimidated by the fact that the female vagina is usually twice the size of the average penis? Or is it deeper than that? I just wish I could understand it. I want to be able to say, I AM beautiful, and I AM sexual, and I AM sensual, without the fear of someone saying... well, then you're a slut.... and oddly I feel alone in this sentiment.
