in defense of my dearest friedrich, I must insist that you take his views on women with two main considerations: 1) the time in which he lived. the inferiority of women was a commonly held idea back in the day. I like to think that if he were around today his opinions would be quite different. 2) he was surrounded by women in his personal life. his father died when friedrich was quite young, so he was raised by women. I don't know about you, but I can certainly understand how that could be the source of some issues for him. not to mention his anti-semitic sister Elisabeth who, after her brother had died, distorted almost all of his un-published writings she could get her hands on. she distributed and interpreted them according to her own ideas which were not at all in line with his. the point there is just to illustrate the particular kind of women by whom he was surrounded for most of his life.
