p2 "Your happiness is as significant as a tree. Attempt to show me an insignificant tree and you will fail."
- Anonymous (but i suspect Lemon_Soda)

"A tree uses what comes its way to nurture itself. By sinking its roots deeply into the earth, by accepting the rain that flows towards it, by reaching out to the sun, the tree perfects its character and becomes great ... Absorb, absorb, absorb. That is the secret of the tree."
- Deng Ming-Dao

"Today's mighty oak is just yesterday's nut, that held its ground."
- Anonymous

"Keep a green tree in your heart and perhaps a singing bird will come."
- Chinese proverb

"Solitary trees, if they grow at all, grow strong."
- Winston Churchill

"God has cared for these trees, saved them from drought, disease, avalanches, and a thousand straining, leveling tempests and floods; but he cannot save them from fools."
- John Muir

REAListic optimIST Half a tree, philisophically,
Must ipso facto half not tree.
But half a tree has got to be
Vis a vis it's entity.
-d'you see?
But can a tree be said to be
Or not to be an entire tree,
When half the tree is not a tree,
Due to some ancient injury.
Is this wretched demi-tree,
Half asleep upon my knee,
Some freak from a menagerie?
No! It's MissTree the Half a Tree.
Fiddle di dum, fiddle di dee,
MissTree the Half a Tree.
Ho ho ho, tee hee hee,
MissTree the Half a Tree.
I love this sawmill employ-ee-ee,
Bisected accidentally,
One summer's afternoon by me,
I love her carnally.
He loves her carnally...
Semi-carnally.
The End.
Cymoril Connolly?
No, semi-carnally.
Oh.

Strideo "I THINK that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.

A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the sweet earth's flowing breast;

A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;

Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.

Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree."

-Joyce Kilmer. 1886–1918

lc I used to have a Tree. I could sit with my Tree and talk about anything, tell my Tree my deepest secrets and know that I would not be judged. When my Tree would start looking like it was going to wilt, I would do my best to prop it up. Occasionaly I would crush puppies that spent too much time sniffing around my special Tree. But now my Tree's not here anymore, and I am left to my mountain wilderness alone, lonely, and with no puppies to crush. 050804

twenty If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down? We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason. ~Jack Handey 061115
