now i love the forests
the trees
the smell
i bathe myself in it
a supposedly male shower gel
the synthetic version
of the giant trees
pale in comparison
to the scent memory
of a summer day
in an older forest
now i know with my heart why
the first peoples around here
revere
these trees
in my middle age
i can't help but notice
the echoes of the past
that still linger
frequencies that repeat
and amplify through time
i want to be close to the ancient dirt
i want to heal things

others
the planet
these recent years
have shook me
