blueberries for you
|
you hide the pain within you cleverly, secretly, behind a mask of pretense. permanent smile aching to drop, teeth pressed together like pieces of chalk in a fist, worn down by writing on concrete. what do you write for the world to read only to have the rain wash it away? we are listening to you but for how long? your friends will abandon you because you lack the ability to fit the pattern. you are a paper that has become unglued. watch yourself fall from the pages until someone picks you up, unless the weather first ruins you. some of your friends will go when you come. they are tired of your ceaseless whining. it is a mosquito in the ear and smack! you are blood on the arm. no more will you suck the life from the ones you wish you were. but i tell you. there is someone who will stay. clocks grind to a halt. the hands are rusted and the numbers have faded. come back to where you are. today i see you. i see underneath the past, inticate beauty. i will stop. i will wait. the only blemish you have stained my soul with is the tears i find on your sleepless pillow.
