There's a reason "Let_it_go" is such a popular song.
So many of us are in need of that sense of abandon, of freedom.
There's a poster I really want to buy, it says "Never look back, unless you're planning on going that way." What excellent advice.
For far too long now I've looked back, and turned self torture into an art form. I stopped self harming, sure, but I kept beating myself up about the things I did so long ago... and actually, that's what helped keep them alive, kept the wounds from healing.
I've spent far longer being good than I was ever bad, and even then I wasn't actually bad, I was ill and I made some bad choices, I behaved badly, but I wasn't intrinsicly bad. I have redeemed myself, and honestly the whole hair shirt thing is just a waste of energy. I've got better things to spend my time doing.
I've learned the lessons, I've paid the price, and now I'm ready to go LIVE, looking forward not back.
i'm burning the hair shirt.
