It amazes me that people can make such big deals over the wording used to denote a simple thing. Why is it such a big deal that the government will not let a gay couple get "married" but will let them get a "civil union" Marriage is just a civil union. Obviously if you are a religious person it is more to you. but as far as the government should be concerned it is just a civil union. A contract between two people bound not by law or words (legal, vows, etc.) but by love. A gay couple does not need the government's permission to be together and love eachother. No couple does for that matter. My friends Joe and Amy have been together for a 7 or 8 years now and they wanted to "get married" I'm sure that they would not tell the government about it. |
