broken_clock
tessa There is what appears to be a sculpture on the UNSW library lawn, consisting of a large metal circle, with two smaller circles perched inside it's circumference.

Not many of the hundreds of students who pass by it know or care, but it is actually a clock. Apparently, there was once two conflicting factions in the engineering department. One faction decided to show off their extraordinary engineering prowess by creating a clock that never stopped and never broke down.

The other faction decided to show off their prowess by breaking it.

It remains there on the lawn. A testament to the dangers of showing off, the effectiveness of competition and the frailty of art.

Oh, and also the the fun of breaking stuff.
