Ah the wonderful, delectable term "gook". I remember being called this back in junior high. Of course it was only because I was stuck in a horrifically, predominantly rural white town. (Tracy, CA to be exact.) Not only did the entire town smell like alfalfa and manure a lot of the time, but the people were also shitty. I've gotten so used to the term that it no longer bothers me when people allow it to come out of their silly mouthes. Sad isn't it? Perhaps not because only the ignorant and lowly would label and categorize me in such a way. Others have no idea...no idea what it means to be called a "gook". It's at this point when I feel the need to prove myself to them when I shouldn't have to in the first place. Thank goodness I'm in San Fran now...sooooooooo many radical liberals out here. I haven't heard this word once and it actually gives me hope about people's mindsets.
