i dug my fingers into my chest and pulled apart my ribcage, opening wide those twin skeletal and bloodied cathedral doors, and when the abyss was vast enough to let the world in it was vast enough to let fogmuse out. long and twitching chilly fingers emerged from inside, grasping the ragged edges of the wound. i turned my face away but as i lit a match to perform the banishing, fogmuse crawled out of my chest and the flame turned blue, without heat or cold and i think i shattered into ice. as he walked away toward the horizon my imagination had him covered in his blood as well as my own, but the truth was hard to asertain; the sun was blinding me and i'm still unsure if it was twilight or dawn. i lay on the ground staring unseeing into the bare tree limbs above, my ribs, battered white raven wings splashed crimson, were splayed and open to the snow. my mind was numb and my blood had frozen solid and black on the dirt. and as my hand groped uselessly around on the icy ground of it's own accord i tried desperatly to life my fragile head and it faintly occured to me to wonder what had happened to the others.
