They built a tan brick in our neighborhood and said it would make us better. But the bright-eyed day that saw a wide-eyed child take his first step in, was the last he was ever seen. Year by year they scooped his insides out in the name of "what's best for you."

In the sterile halls
'Tween the tan brick's walls
There are predators at play
Fragile souls
Are the first to go
Pressured into growing up
By the cruelties of the day.

Scarred and disillusioned
By the tan brick early on
That same boy some years later
Comes home twisted and withdrawn...

The years will pass as he makes someone rich
In precise, robotic ways
He'll have his own
When he is grown
And when they're 5 or 6 he'll say:

"You'll be going to that tan brick, kids
The day is coming soon"
Then for 13 years
They'll scoop their insides out
In the name of "what's best for you."

dafremen Our political system is more a release valve for peasant revolt than it is a system for change anymore. They used to have revolts every few decades. Now it's been a good ~250 years.

We are the slaves who know not of our slavery and so are resigned to our circumstances; sending our children to be broken by the education system. In they go spirited, young colts full of hope..out they come broken and ready for the trail.

dafremen It's surprising what passes for an education these days. A cadre of naive chumps, pour every summer out of big brick buildings, all smug and clueless..deliciously prepared for the streets to devour them. And terrified that they will. The system's never designed a better pawn. 210517
