They further disable the ship so that it is forced to return to it's Saudi port after they receive a ransom for the crew. As the ship is entering the Strait of Hormuz, the ballast tanks blow and the ship sinks blocking the strait to tankers and effectively blocking Mideastern oil from reaching the US and the rest of the world.
