In childhood, there is much hiding, for games for fear for safety for love (and _from_ all). Couch empires, backyard blinds, undercover under covers, car tires crouching footsteps pass. Physics and geometry, early learnings. Angles--of incident and refraction, lines, point sources, the body and the eye and the I, all with different centers. A small plastic periscope, both cheap and inexpensive, looks around the wooden corner into to the soft light of the 1975 living room.
