AN acronymic is a style of poetry. I don't know if he invented/created is, but in my ENglish twelve class, we read some works by Vancouver poet/performance artist/artist/scientist Mike Schertzer (check him out, he rocks. esp. Cipher and Poverty, that book really place with limitations of language... ANYway...) What an acronymic os, is a poem that starts with one word, say, LOOK. Tha word is your "uttereance" Look (utterance) you then expand it, int he first expansion. every word in the first expansion starts with a letter of the word in the utterance, in order. Love, our only kiss (first expansion) Yeah yeah, juvenile and sophomoric, but it's an example, cut me some slack...;) then second expansion Like others, veracity enlightens over unbrellas, revealing opera's night life. You kill, I sink slowly and so on and so on. The words in the expansion can have something to do witht he uttereance, or not. The one that we were taught off of was the name of his ex fiancee, Miranda. The first one I did, I used the name of a pretty significant ex of nime, who (at the time) I had jsut broken up with. sometimes this becomes a game for the thesaurus (I need another "e" word without a damn x!! Where's another "x" word!?!?!?!) You can do it on your own, but SO FUN to try as a group! YAY! wanna play? Let's start with the obvious: Blather (utterance)
