birdmad collection agent catches up to me over a loan for a car i have not seen in eleven years, much less driven or thought to continue paying for. two hundred bones a month til they clear my name (or until their home state's attorney general busts their balls for their overly aggressive practices in a large lawsuit)

my neighbor E owes me a few rounds of drinks for various errands, my intention is to wake saturday or sunday afternoon with the vague sense of "where am i and how did i get here" oozing through my sluggish braincells like some viscous black ghost in some Japanese horror flick

little black cat, barely more than a kitten herself, this little stray who has already seen off her first litter of her own kittens, but who unlike them defies catches and traps. enormous anime eyes...vaguely sullen and indignant little girl-kitty face that just seems to convey the sound of "HMPH!"

she wandered into the yard of the dog-breeders on the other side of the oleander...survived the encounter, but not without a couple of grazing wounds and some fur sheared off

tough kitty, wily...and as i put out some food and water for her at 2 AM, knowing that i am sleepy and have not big box in which to keep her until i could get her to a vet decides to jump up in my lap and take a five minute cat-nap purring like a diesel motor

if i manage to find a way to keep her, maybe i will call her Lilith...i'll need that Feliway stuff to make sure Tonya does not go all nuclear-bitch-mode like she does whenever i have babysat other cats

the tracks are built and laid, the lines need to be strung and the roadways around them fixed

i will take that day off and ride the light-rail from end to end and back again... six more months... have had to walk almost a mile out of my way to get to the bus stop while they have worked on it for the last twenty months

mid afternoon
antsy
need a cigarette
but for now...

tourist Bird, I Don't Know How It Is In The Desert, But Here In The Swamp There Are Statutes Of Limitation On Debts Like This, Check The Websites Or Talk To A Lawer (shudder to think) cause if The Account Has Been Inactive For Long Enough There May Be Nothing They Can Do But Try And Trick You Into Paying "a litte something", Once They Do It Resets The Debt.
Something My Wife and I Found Out The Hard Way. The Debt Will Still Be On Your Credit Score, But They May Not Be Able To Touch You. Check The Rules. Good Luck.

bird i was successfully tricked (sick and off my A-game the day they called...folded like a steel chair)

in falling for it, i reactivated the life-span of the debt, so i'm back on the hook for it.

checked with my employer's legal aid dept and a few other resources...the amount of the proverbial red tape involved in trying to get out of it looks to be even more unwieldy than just making my payments and hoping the IL AG buries them in the meantime

tourist Yep! They Got Us Too, But The Next Guys Wern't That Lucky. Although They Tried, It Was Tossed Out Before The Actual Hearing Due To The Statute of Limitations. And It Wasn't Even The People Who Held The Original Debt, It Was Some Company That Buys Old Debt In Hopes Of Tricking, Intimidating or Otherwise Strongarming The Working Poor Out Of Their Last Shekle.

birdmad i used to do the same thing to deadbeat cokeheads back in the day, so based on the karmic backlash potential of my old life, i'm not too upset about it 080606

birdmad night-birds clattering
temperate breeze
the nights of late stand in stark contrast to the days.

the heat has not been so intense, but the sun has been glaringly bright

work day over soon enough, maybe off to the Ruby Room (stiff drinks and loud music...fuck yeah)

if that's on the agenda, this will be one of those nights where i wish i had all of my teeth.

years of leading with my face have taken their toll.
