I may be the only one that i know of
i particularly enjoyed the odd, brief emergence of "horror-core" hip-hop in the mid 90's
gravediggaz were one of my favorites
some more minimalist trip-hop fits the bill as well
It wouldn't be out of character for my cd carousel to contain Bartok, Lacuna Coil, Busta Rhymes, Skinny_puppy, and The Cramps in one rotation, and then portishead, outkast, DMX, The_damned and Joy_division in another
urban decay
rust and sharp edges agains a sunset sky
a vision of the world as viewed in equal parts through Blade_runner, The_Crow, Dracula and Up_in_smoke with a light scattering of Boulevard Nights, Boyz 'n the Hood, Less_than_Zero and Repo_Man thrown in for good measure along the way
thumping beats and rattling ghosts

you've brought up some intriguing issues re:the confluence of disparate influences..trends in the culture atavistic echoes resulting in a hybrid of sometimes antipodal aesthetic combinations - how said hybrid finds currency in the imaginations of its eventual consumers is to me baffling but still..I'm starting to stretch the old cognitive apparatus...
specifically the whole rap meets absurd caricature or approximation of horror meets gang banger meets or equates with the testosterone informed drive to "protect ones turf" or "we bad so don't step unless you want to get wrecked"..or this is the new instatiation of the bloody macabethan imagination for insecure (not you mind you) for the not very self reflective and insecure ephebe to voyeuristically impose upon his own shuddering soul the spirit or caste of what it really means to be "diesal"(what i am sure is the product of a reptilian agent's or studio executives leering imagination, no not leering..ah not pornographic, maybe...trashy imaginations..and sure i sound kind of elitist and pretentious and sure I have no patience for what is dredged up and pawned off as faux edgy pop-culture)
..still though..an interesting esturary of contemplation...i think your CD collection is even more eclectic than mine..

ah but then my infactuation with the joss whedon universe,..er created cosmology of myth and the meaning of heroism..or at least an expression of the gestalt of the post and now post post modern hero in these our prophylactically sheathed times..
so..totems fall..authority is smirked at..good old two die good and evil construct is really murky and muddled..the true state of not being some kinda transcendant human holding neatly the music of morality and the things pop and ma and the stolid lutheran minister preached about..these coffin nails are beginning to taste real stale so..i guess no real relative high moral ground for me here to expectorate from..kinda have dry mouth t'day anyway...

i'm still pissed that Angel's been canceled

i grew up around the gang-member types but never aspired to be one of them.
i've always felt that slight bit of superiority that i made (and mostly got away with) more interesting mistakes than the ones they've made
Urban decay,
vaguely religious overtones,
creepy clanging and clattering noises from a nearby steelyard (and the neighbor's junkpile,)
between some of the inhabitants and the surroundings it's fertile ground for strangeness
