all the time. all the bleedin' time. health requires wealth, these days and in this country. to have insurance in the first place is a trick; first you have to work for long enough at a job that offers it (self-employed? tough!), then you have to be able to afford the premiums. then, if god forbid you should get sick, whole heaping lot of other things, things that aren't covered, fees and expenses. and if you don't have insurance, well, don't get sick. medicare will pay a hospital $800 a day for a hospital stay, which is just the cost of the bed you're sleeping in, never mind the $35 aspirins. and hospitals charge much, much more than that. base pay of $425 for an ambulance ride, and we won't talk aout emergency services. where did we go wrong, and why is no one screaming for it to be fixed? in clinton's days people cared about health care, but now that we've got our nose shoved up another country's anus, this country's problems seem to have been put to the side. honestly, regardless of my opinoin of the goals or effectiveness of the war, our children don't have books and our citizens can't afford to get sick. fixing that takes precedence over initiating a solo mission to bring democracy to a country whether they like it or not. harrumph.
