realistic optimist the last three days have been unfathomably amazingly wonderful!

i started saturday working my new job gathering signatures for a medical marijuana ballot measure. i went to the saturday market (a giant open air market which sells all manner of things) to do so, and soon tired of standing in a crowd yelling at the passerby (too much negative energy both being given and received). so, i decided to solicit the vendors, and take my time talking to each one in turn, so i had time and energy to give love to each person i encountered. i found that i got so much love back this way. people stopping me to tell me how i could find inner peace like they did, but not imposing at all; sharing love with me. people telling me about grantwriting, which i have been considering getting into. people telling me about wonderful shows and events. one such person told me about an event called the "bush bash variety show," and i told him i had a spoken word piece i would very much like to perform. once i performed the halliburton_curtain for him, he was eager to have me perform in his show, and gave me a ticket to the event. as the day went on, i got more signatures, and started my trip home. on the way, i was given a free gormet turkey sandwich, chips, granola bar, and hot chocolate. i rode the bus for free home.

my friend called, she was going to be late, so i decided to wait until she got here to start making dinner. when she arrived, we walked to the store to get wine and salsa. on the way, we encountered a couple on the sidewalk who needed a flashlight. all i had was a led light, but helped the lady try to find her cigarettes in her purse. after talking and laughing with them for a while, i told her that a friend had given me a pack of menthols that day, and that i didn't smoke at all, so i would drop them off by her house after we came home from the store. the guy told me where he lived, and we trapsed off into the smell of cherryblossoms.

we had fun talking to various others on our trip, then arrived at my apartment where i commenced to make yummy black bean chimichangas, and we drank the bottle of wine. then, we headed to the guy's apartment to drop off the cigarettes, and wound up staying for several hours laughing and talking and getting drunk on their cheap wine. it got late, and my friend was drunk, so she slept over and we cuddled.

she gave me a ride the next day to the saturday market on sunday (yes, it's open then too...). i wasn't feeling particularly energetic with my cheap wine hangover and all, so i decided to wander for a minute. in my wanderings, i noticed 2 loaves of bread and a block of still wrapped gouda cheese on the sidewalk. it looked good, but this was a treasure for someone else to find.

i made my way to pioneer square, where i found seven people sitting in a circle playing rose quartz chakra bowls. i sat and listened for a short while, and then someone got up and left. i asked if i could play, then sat and played one of the bowls. it is a wonderfully meditative thing to do, and i sent out my love energy, which resonated with the tone being played by the bowl, which resonated with everyone else's tones. it was beautifully harmonic. someone walked around the circle playing a digireedoo as well, and there was a bell and a maraca. after several minutes, everyone stopped playing. i could feel the energy going clockwise around the circle. i would take it in, let it fill me up, add my own love, and send it to my left. we all did this silently for a few minutes. then, we smiled and regarded, acknowledged, and smiled at each other. i thanked the man responsible for the circle, and left feeling rather high and wonderful, full of energy for the day.

i then got some signatures and wandered down to the waterfront where i encountered some old friends and told them about the show i was to perform in. i had a great time down there, then i went to turn in my signatures. while i was there, i was telling someone about the show i was performing in, and a girl who overheard me asked me if i was a poet. i replied that i was, and she said that she edits a local progressive political publication, and that she would like me to submit for it, which i did.

i went to bed well rested and happy, then awoke early for a long day of getting signatures at a grocery store this morning. not long after i arrived, petitioners for a different petition showed. one of them was an old friend, so instead of battling for the turf (as i was instructed to do), we helped each other out. after about 6 hours, i hopped on a bus, and headed down to the ralph nader rally downtown. there, i met a couple other petitioners. one of which i fell deeply in infatuation with. she is young, beautiful, sweet, intelligent, worldly, and amazing. i can't get her out of my mind. the rally was a fun event, and ralph told the truth, preaching to the choir about the state of the union. i signed up to volunteer for his campaign while i was there. and then afterwards, this beautiful delicate creature and i worked the crowd as they left, getting signatures. she gave me her number, and i am eager with anticipation to ask her to coffee, so i can drink in her beauty and make those wonderful eyes light up with laughter again. i got about $90 worth of signatures, so i might just cover the check i bounced to pay rent and power yet!

anyway, there were a million other moments when the_world_smiled_upon_me, but i'm tired and i need to get up early to work tomorrow. but i've been smiling back at the world for three days straight now. :)
