she says the unexpected things the things which only jaded comedy writers laugh at. cancer, starvation, ethnic tensions have no reign over her minnowy burrowing sharp crack against glazed eyes glass voice. subversive, but she likes money, her body, maybe even long walks on the beach (if they're clean and have substance?) platonic friendships with late show hosts off camera. And sex. Jokes about being spanked exist in her canon. She comments on and forgives herself and so possibly will forgive you too. especially if you like to spank. A joke is between blame and forgiveness. surprise. She is always the suffering girlfriend in movies. A bridesmaid. She takes what's beneath her (right up my alley) but lets you know it with a little less deadpan than usual. Less glimmer. Less not particularly interested in you sunshine. That's how the sun is and yet people love the sun. I want her to play her in a movie. I want her to talk to the camera like it's the romantic lead. But just that in her taking of movie roles she has both resigned tenderness and passive agression. Two bumpers we all need against us, in the night, in the early morning. Love me, my half imagined angel
