yeah...blather's not going anywhere. it's true that it's quieter now than it's ever been, and the people who've decided they prefer tumblr and facebook may not come back here. but the people who value this place as a unique corner of the internet that is at once public and anonymous, and a space to say things that can't be said anywhere else...they'll find their way back from wherever they are. some of us never really left in the first place.
i don't think it's obsolete. personally i'm not a huge fan of the social networking overload we've got going on now. it's just a lot of meaningless noise to me. the relative simplicity here is something i've always found comforting. this is a place i can come to unplug from all the noise, where it would still be quiet enough to hear my own thoughts and the thoughts of others even if it suddenly did get insanely busy again.
