andru235 i can't remember

"what was the greatest tradgedy on U.S. soil, andru235?"

um...the displacement of 5,000,000 north american indians between 1776 and 1876?

"no, you bad, bad patriot! it was the death of 2,500 people in the two towers!"

ah, the towers of shady international business practices. i thought it was *good* they were gone.

"you are a horrible, horrible person andru235! horrible! the 2,500 people in that tower were innocent!"

oh, i see. the 5,000,000 native americans were guilty of something. hmmm. what, i wonder? OH! of course. they were pagan reincarnationists who lived within the natural order. and 7/8ths of the tribes were peaceful. how awful of them.

"these two events aren't even connected!"

of course not, mr. rejecto-everythingo, of course not.

"so say it with me: 2,500 dead business people = UNFORGETABLE! 5,000,000 dead commune-ists people = forgeta...what?"

i'm...not going to say that with you.

"well then you are a bad patriot"

clearly i am not cut out for this 'patriotism' nonsense, i agree.

"george w. doesn't like you, andru235!"

you must mean, george w. bush. no, he probably doesn.

"i meant george washington - you are a bad, bad american."

oh, that's interesting. as a descendant of several U.S. fighters in the revolutionary war, and as an ardent advocate for civil liberties and equality for all, i would have thought myself a prime candidate for george washington's approval. darn. well, thanks, o arbiter of american tastes, for setting me correct.

"you're welcome."

here?!? no, i'm illcome. i should have gone somewhere else. after this life, i'm outta here. modern society has all the civilized habits of a pile of decaying roadkill, and that's an insult to decaying roadkill.

birdmad Next to the shopkeepers desk were a number of notes and stickers that would make some people label him as "unpatriotic", but it was one placard that brought a little smile to my face:

Geronimo and several of his men, Apache warriors standing proudly with their rifles with a caption beneath them reading: "Department of Homeland Security - Fighting Terrorism since 1492"

And in that neighborhood, an enclave of right-wing, mouth-breathers who like to spew endlessly about the "culture of life" but have no compunction about wishing death on those with whom they disagree, i couldn't help but admire the small, frail little man behind the counter for the kind of boldness required to be different in a part of town filled with lumbering dumbasses.
