when i deposited some money earlier i saw the date was rather golden. which led to some rather auspicious shopping conditions which led to me spending more money than i probably should have on books and vitamins of all things....with some clothes and perfume and housewares thrown in.
i am obsessed with urban outfitters, even though i'm afraid that puts me way to close to the scenester_bitches

(granted two of the books are birthday presents for my brother even though i tried to resolve myself against buying him any gifts since i never hear from him. i couldn't do it though; i've been spoiling him with material things ever since i left him to go to college. ironically, or maybe not so much, he lives much farther away than i ever have)

China has just put on the most incredible Olympic opening ceremony I have ever seen. The sheer volume of the whole thing, thousands of bodies, all costumed and choreographed, all so rich with their culture, all just to say "We're proud of who we are, and we're glad to have you here."
